FREE AlohaSafe Alert App for COVID-19 Notification Available to County of Maui
December 16, 2020
Beginning today, December 16, a free COVID-19 exposure notification app for the state of Hawaii is available to all of Maui County. AlohaSafe Alert is a tool to help increase detection of COVID-19, streamline contact tracing and slow the spread of the disease. We join Maui Mayor Mike Victorino and the County of Maui in doing our part to make our community safe.
Created by the Hawaii State Department of Health, aio Foundation, Hawaii Executive Collaborative and others, the AlohaSafe Alert app will be made available statewide in the next few weeks. Since the pilot program started on Lanai and Hana in November, to date there have been over 6,000 downloads of the app.
AlohaSafe Alert is private, voluntary app that protects the privacy of individuals (no personal data ever leaves the phone) unless the owner chooses to share the information with the Department of Health.
