Legislative Update: May 4, 2017
May 04, 2017
Today is the final day of the 2017 Legislative Session, or Adjournment Sine Die. Every bill that passes Final Reading will be enrolled to the Governor for his consideration where he can take one of the following three options:
- Sign the bill into law,
- Allow the bill to become law without signature, or
- Veto the bill whereby the Legislature must override his veto with 2/3 of both the House and the Senate
We are pleased to highlight that the top tier priority measure for all 6 of the public sector unions, S.B. 410, which clarifies the scope of bargaining within Ch. 89, HRS, has passed Final Reading and will be enrolled to the Governor.
Additionally, the Collective Bargaining and EUTF Funding Bills for the recent arbitration awards passed Final Reading as well:
- S.B. 914 (Units 2, 8, 9, 13)
- S.B. 915 (Units 3, 4)
- S.B. 918 (Unit 6)
- S.B. 926 (Unit 14 EUTF only)
