Legislative update: March 2, 2017

March 02, 2017

HGEA’s legislative team is diligently lobbying, testifying, and monitoring legislative bills that affect working families in Hawaii. This Session, we are strongly advocating for contract funding in anticipation of any arbitrated salary increases and pursing a resolution to Act 1, Special Session Laws of Hawaii relating to severance benefits for Hawaii Health Systems Corporation Maui Region members whose jobs will be privatized. We are also seeking to clarify the scope of collective bargaining and modify the Employer-Union Health Benefits Trust Fund (EUTF) to be more cost effective for you.

The 2017 Legislative Session is nearly 1/3 completed, with tomorrow’s critical First Decking deadline, where all bills must be finalized and made available to the public before the House of Representatives and the Senate cast their votes. Click here to check progress of priority bills.
