HGEA Seeks Legislative Changes to Act 1

RIF anticipated soon, but no consultation to date
The State legislative session kicks off next week with opening day on Wednesday, January 18. HGEA will continue to seek and advocate for changes to Act 1 (SB 2077), which provides early retirement benefits and severance pay for employees affected by privatization in the Maui Region.
While we cannot predict the will of lawmakers, our plan is to lobby and discuss options with our friends in the legislature, those that you supported in the 2016 election.
Additionally, the HHSC Reduction-In-Force is anticipated to begin soon, but our union has not received consultation from the employer.
Stop Work Informational Strategy Meetings will resume in the first quarter.
