Results of 2013-2015 special election for Unit 13 state board director
September 14, 2013
Pamela Young, a Unit 13 member and an accounting section supervisor with the City & County of Honolulu's Budget and Fiscal Services Department, has been elected to a two-year term as Unit 13 state board director.
The special election for a Unit 13 director was conducted due to the resignation of Kepa E. Kekaualua, who was elected in May as one one of three Unit 13 directors to the 2013-2015 State Board of Directors. Kekaualua had accepted a position in another bargaining unit that made him ineligible to serve as a Unit 13 director. Due to the vacancy, as specified in the HGEA Bylaws, a special election was held.
The new term for the State Board of Directors began July 1, 2013 and runs through June 30, 2015. All are volunteers and serve without compensation.
The deadline for protest or challenges on the conduct of this special Unit 13 election is Sept. 19. The State Board of Directors will certify the results at its Sept. 27 board meeting.
Ballots were mailed to eligible HGEA members on Aug. 9, and counted in the Honolulu headquarters building today, Sept. 14, by N&K CPAs, Inc., HGEA's third-party elections organization.
