HSTA's tentative agreement

March 25, 2013

The Hawaii State Teachers Association (HSTA) has reached a tentative agreement with the employer.

HGEA will be studying the HSTA tentative agreement in the coming days. Our negotiating teams will be meeting on April 3 to discuss the next steps. Given this agreement with the teachers, we expect the employer to engage in serious discussions with us. If they are not willing, we will immediately plan to proceed to arbitration.

The HSTA tentative agreement is for the 2013-2017 contract period (four years), and therefore has no impact on the Favored Nation provision of HGEA's 2011-2013 contracts.

We will continue to keep you updated via eBulletin and our website on any progress or new developments.
