Clarification: UPW’s Unit 10 draft arbitration award issued

We would like to further explain the content of yesterday’s eBulletin regarding the UPW Unit 10 draft arbitration award. We received questions on whether this UPW arbitration award would trigger the "favored nation" provision.
Because this will be an arbitrated decision, it will not put into effect the favored nation provision of the 2011-2013 contracts for HGEA Units 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 13. Under the favored nation agreement, if a non-HGEA bargaining unit receives a more favorable negotiated settlement, then HGEA members would be entitled to the equivalent. However, in this case the Unit 10 award will be an arbitrated decision, not a negotiated settlement.
