April 24, 2013
Three Hawaii Government Employees Association bargaining units have voted to ratify a new two-year contract, covering the period of July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2015.
The following bargaining units ratified their contract:
- Unit 2, blue-collar supervisory employees: 204 accept (90%); 19 reject
- Unit 3, white-collar non-supervisory employees: 5,419 accept (86%), 819 reject
- Unit 4, white-collar supervisory employees: 310 accept (89%), 33 reject
A detailed breakdown of votes cast will be sent via eBulletin and posted on the HGEA website tomorrow, April 25. (Tallies above do not include blank and challenged ballots.)
“The ratification of this contract by Units 2, 3 and 4 signifies the end of four difficult years for our members who stepped up and sacrificed to help our state weather its budget crisis,” said HGEA Executive Director Randy Perreira. “While the agreement did not achieve all of the goals we set and fails to provide all that is due to our members, this is a step forward toward improving the standard of living of these government employees and recognizing the valuable services that they provide to our community every day.”
Ratification meetings for Units 2, 3 and 4 were held at various sites statewide April 22 through April 24.
