2013-2015 Contract Negotiations Update — April 12, 2013

April 12, 2013

Earlier this week after the negotiating teams identified their respective unit’s priorities, HGEA transmitted an informal, off-the-record proposal to the employers that addressed the restoration of the step movement plan, across-the-board increases, and the EUTF premium split.

The employers have sent HGEA informal, off-the-record proposals for Units 2, 3, 4 and 13, which are similarly structured to HSTA’s tentative agreement.

These proposals include the following terms:

  • Some movement along steps is proposed for units with step movement plans. (The proposals do NOT continue the restoration of the current step movement plan.)  Because step movement plans vary for each Unit, the employers provided separate proposals for each specific Unit.
  • An across-the-board pay increase.
  • 60%/40% premium split based on the cheapest medical plan.

Regarding the duration of the contract, the employer presented different options for our consideration, including 4-year and 6-year agreements.

Because the employer’s proposals are informal and off-the-record, we are unable to disclose more specific details. On Monday, April 15, your negotiating teams will meet again to review and discuss the offer. We will provide members with more detailed information on Monday.

We will continue to keep you updated via eBulletin and the HGEA website on any progress or new developments.
